The Laugh, 2009

Anyone who knows my sister will be familiar with her energetic, enthusiastic laugh. On a 2009 visit to Gilgal Garden in Salt Lake City, I convinced her to do her best impression of a Metallica fan, thinking the sight of her airborne hair (which was quite lengthy back then) would make for an interesting picture. I was right.

Anyone who knows my sister knows she has an intoxicating laugh. One day on a visit to the Gilgal Sculpture Garden in Salt Lake City, I talked her into giving me her best impression of a headbanging Metallica fan, thinking an action shot of her hair might be interesting. I was right.

Randy, 2011

When I posted this impromptu studio portrait of my longtime friend/travel buddy/bandmate Randy, his sister commented that this picture truly captured her brother in a way few did. I agree, and the honesty in Randy's smile is more than enough to offset the inner perfectionist that wishes you couldn't see the corner of one of the soft boxes we were trying out reflected in the lens of Randy's glasses. I guess sometimes honesty trumps technical execution. Sometimes.
